Whenever something absolutely incredible happens to me, I’m always afraid that I’m going to forget about it. It occurred to me today: Hey, I have a blog. Write it down, dummy! So, here we go.
It has been years since I’ve seen a once great friend of mine. We never had a falling out, we just lost touch. I moved, his number changed, etc etc. I’m always thinking about him it seems, but early this week something told me to try searching for him online AGAIN. I’ve been searching off and on for quite a while.
My search came up with a hit! Facebook of all places. I promptly logged on and shot him an email. My hopes were not high as he had no activity for two years. Days went on and I heard nothing, so I figured it was a dead end.
Fast forward to today. Here’s where things get what I like to call, divine. My wife suggests we take our dog to the park. I think it’s a good idea because he’s a big boy with a lot of energy and I’m sure our neighborhood gets boring. I’m sitting in my chair in the living room and she’s itching to go. For whatever reason, I’m not moving. I’m sitting there, playing Doodle Jump, staring out the window between rounds, and just not motivated to get up. Finally, for no reason whatsoever I decide it’s time to go and I move in a hurry. I take a route that I normally don’t, again for no reason. As I’m driving, I see the car that my friend had all those years ago. I glimpse inside as I pass and its him! I pull over, flag him down, and we are getting together tomorrow.
For me, these are soul touching moments that remind me that God is watching over me. There is no explaining this away. I have moved miles away, was on a very out of the way road, he was two towns away from where he lives, and we ran into each other because an unseen motivation directed me down that path.
Today has been an amazing day.

A couple of months ago I was going through some of my mother’s belongings. Things like very old books, family documents, etc. I came across what I thought was a book called “The Wedded Life”. I opened it to see if I could find anything on copyright to see when it was printed because the stuff I was going through was all quite old. What I found surprised me…
It turns out that it is indeed a book and is copyrighted 1886, so it is just as old as the other things I was going through. However what I discovered inside the front cover is what surprised me the most and is confounding me. What I have is an original wedding certificate for Elias N. Moor and Fannie L. Neall married in Germantown Philadelphia on February 6, 1890. I have tried tracking down any family related to these two with no success and I would very much like to return these documents to them as I’m sure they would like to have them. I know I would.
I’m not looking to sell anything here, so please don’t think this is some sort of ploy. I’m going to want some sort of proof that you are indeed related so that they do go to the right place and not to someone who will try to make money off of these documents. But as long as I’m satisfied that they’re going to the right place, I will send them to you free of charge.

The day I swore would never come is upon me: I’m putting my prized “Redness” up for sale. It’s not without a lot of thought and careful consideration, and not at all an act of desperation. If I was desperate, it would be listed for less than it is.
My reasons for selling are as follows…
My daughter is 15 and learning how to drive. She is doing amazingly well in school and my promise to her has been as long as she is in the academic program she is in, that I wouldn’t let her work and would provide her with a car to drive. So when she turns 16, Jamie and I will give her the mustang that Jamie has been driving for a few years now: the 2003 V6 I bought new in ’03. As a consequence, Jamie is left without a car to drive. I have been in love with the 2010 mustang body style since it debuted and when the Coyote 5.0 was announced I nearly lost my mind. Jamie finally came around to liking the new mustang and when I showed her the new color available, Lava Red, she fell as in love as I was. After the tsunami hit Japan and news surfaced of Lava Red being one of the colors being discontinued because of it we knew we had to make our move. So now, proud new owners of a 2012 Lava Red 5.0, we can’t very well intelligently keep two in the stable.

My daughter has been trying to sell her Nintendo DS Lite for a while now. The DS had a floppy lid due to the hinge cover cracking and relieving tension on the hinge assembly itself. The console itself worked fine though, so I put it up on Craigslist at $40 for her. She said she’d take $20 for it but I thought that was way to little for something that worked fine and should be easy enough to fix. So I lowered it to $30. I had the same one guy offer me $20 at both $40 and $30, but me being the stubborn guy I am said no.
After a while I decided it would be fun to try and repair it so I gave my daughter $30 and bought it for myself. I looked up some replacement cases and hinge kits on Amazon.com and settled on a navy blue set. I picked the set that I did for a few reasons: 1. I liked the color and the original white case was pretty dingy and dirty. 2. It came with the hinge kit. 3. It came with the special triwing screwdriver for the screws holding the base together. And lastly it was only $18! Continue Reading »

As according to Urban Dictionary:
Steve (short for Steven/Stephen) is a name associated with power and awesomeness. An Australian male with the name Steve should be praised constantly. Historians have noted that the name derives from a line of kings, sports stars and top blokes. It has been noted that philosophers in the mould of Nostradamus and Albert Einstein have stated that the name Steve should be put away because it would be difficult for any young male to have such a burden placed on their shoulders. However this theory was rebuked by the AOS (Association of Steve’s) who correctly suggested that once a child is named Steve they can automatically take upon such a mantle, as with the name they are the recipient of much greatness, authority and laid-backednesss. Parents who embed their children with this hallowed name shall receive an all round champ of a son for their knowledgeable choice.
My name is Steve
All hail Steve, the almighty
I love it!

Sorry for the slow response to a lot of your comments. My WordPress installation got corrupted somehow and it took a bit of work to get it usable again. We should be all up to date now.

Just watched the Blu-Ray release of Push from Netflix. If you’ve read my previous entries on movie reviews, you probably noticed I tend to only do them when they’re less-than-favorable. That is a trend I would like to change, … but unfortunately this isn’t going to be the day that I do.
If you don’t know what Push is about, here it is in a nutshell: Psychic weaponry. A government funded agency of some sort is turning psychics into weapons with the hopes of developing super weapons by using some sort of serum. As per usual, some of the psychic subjects don’t appreciate being government property slash guinea pigs and revolt. The result is an action packed brain fight that culminates in a final confrontation that can best be described as lawlz.

This isn’t a lead in to an eventual answer, it’s a question. Who in the hell is causing all the fuss about Google Voice and iTunes? And more importantly… Why??
Does Google Voice (henceforth known as GV) offer something unique that no other App in the App Store does? To answer that, I guess we’ll have to cover first what the application does offer:
-
One number for all your calls and SMS
Call screening – Announce and screen callers
Listen in – Listen before taking a call
Block calls – Keep unwanted callers at bay
SMS – Send, receive, and store SMS
Place calls - Call US numbers for free
Taking calls – Answer on any of your phones
Phone routing – Phones ring based on who calls
Forwarding phones - Add phones and decide which ring

Last week an acquaintance of mine was complaining that his Chase credit card was closed without warning whatsoever. He had read online that they were closing counts arbitrarily and decided that he would call and check on his account…. Sure enough, CLOSED. When asked why, he was told that a recent report on his credit from Experian returned poorly and they canceled his account based on the information from that report. So, he warned a group of people, of which I happened to be one of, to call and check on their accounts.
Me, being the internet savvy web guru that I am, I decided to simply log in to my account online and check my account status there. As I expected to find, both of my accounts were sitting there looking ever so peaceful with $0 balances and full credit limits that matched my available lines. All is well in the land of Steve’s credit cards. Not good enough, he says. Tells me to call and double-check with a person. Okay fine, I’ll amuse you and call the number on the back of my card.

I know I’m late to the game here, but I’ve just played through F.E.A.R. 2 on the Xbox 360 which I received it as a gift this past Christmas, and finally got around to playing. F.E.A.R., for those that don’t know, stands for First Encounter Assault Recon. This is the second installment of what so far is a two-part series. F.E.A.R. 2 is a sequel to the first game, but gives us some perspective as to what happens to the games’ (both) main villian: Alma.
I’ll start this off by first saying that the demo is quite misleading. If you downloaded the demo on Xbox Live, you got what was a good representation of the game but had it delivered to you almost like a movie preview. Allow me to explain… The demo takes some of the more exciting moments from the game, and threads them all together like a continuous level. So you get bits from level 2, 5, 8, etc (examples) sewn together and presented to you seamlessly.
